“It is time, is it not?” I asked Zena over the intercom in my post.
“Ah…! Yes, yes they’re here!” she responded energetic as always, pounding her chest to accompany her words.
“Alright, I will be down in a moment,” I nodded and cut the transmission by touching a button on the panel. The slight vibrations on the ship gave away that they were docking already. ‘Took them much longer than expected,’ I sighed deeply. I sat back, thoughtful. “What will be the outcome of this, I wonder? Will they really be able to follow the adaptability procedures? They are in the field now and, well, who knows what these youngsters will show us,” I grinned at the thought, visualizing the future for a long while. After several minutes, I came back to myself. One old woman needs to dream every now and then too, you know.
I dialed Fouis. “Fouis, serve me the usual and send it down with someone to the docking station.”
Fouis chuckled over the transmission and said “The best of the house, forrr the best of the ladies, coming up!” I killed the transmission and stared at the empty screen, savoring a light chuckle.
“Time to meet the children,” I whispered rather joyfully for I was very anxious to see them, “and see how they like their playground.” I chuckled to myself as I grabbed my cane and took the elevator down.
